Pentecost IX

HOLY EUCHARIST  9:00 A.M.

Confirmation Next Week at St. Andrew’s: We will have 3 Confirmands (Dicky Repp; Jocelyn Donahue, and Rick Barlup) to present for Confirmation next Sunday, August 9th at 9:00 a.m. Our Assistant Bishop, and the 13th Bishop of Maryland, The Right Rev’d. Robert Wilkes Ihloff, will be here to Celebrate, and Confirm our Confirmands. In addition to Confirming our Confirmands, Bishop Ihloff will be the Celebrant for the Eucharist, and Preach. Because of the current COVID restrictions, there will be no fellowship/reception at the Church following the service. Bishop Ihloff will meet with the Confirmands prior to the 9:00 a.m. service.

Orange Phase: We are now in the Diocesan approved “Orange Phase”. There are some requirements, and restrictions for us to be in this phase of “Regathering”. Please follow the directions on the posted signs, and from our ushers. The tape on the floor, and in the pews, mark the Social Distancing requirements. Those who live together, are exempted from the Social Distancing requirements. However, please do not sit in the pews that are closed.

Receiving Holy Communion: Please come to the Communion rail to receive the Sacrament (Bread). You may stand only, and we can have 3 people at the rail the same time and follow the Social Distancing requirements. Those living together are exempted from the distancing requirements at the Communion Rail, but are required to stand while receiving the Sacrament.

One Year Bible Challenge” is Returns to St. Andrew’s – TOMORROW: Father Steve is bringing back the “One Year Bible Challenge”, that we did several years ago, BEGINNING TOMORROW. There are too many distractions in the World right now, and the best way to balance our lives is by studying the Bible in its entirety (Genesis – Revelation). This daily reading (Monday – Saturday) follows an outline, and Father Steve wrote a Commentary/Explanation for each daily reading. The “One Year Bible Challenge” begins, tomorrow, Monday, August 3, 2020. Please consider joining your fellow Christians by allowing yourself to become fully Immersed in the Greatest Book ever written! The outline is available for you to print from the Church website.

Adult Education Will Return in October: In addition to those doing the One Year Bible Challenge that begins in August; Father Steve will invite the adults to read a very interesting book that he read in seminary. This book will be read by the adults through the week, and discussed for several weeks on Sundays during Adult Education. The title of this book is “The Lost Letters of Pergamum – A Story from the New Testament World” by Bruce W. Longenecker. The book is fiction, but every person who has read it, believes it is non-fiction, including Father Steve. You will be surprised in the outcome of this book. As we get closer to October, Father Steve will take orders for the book. It is paperback, and the Adult Education class is asked to pay for their own copies.

Deacon John away on vacation with family: Deacon John is away today, and on the road, returning from vacation, from Nags Head, NC.

Church with No Walls”: An additional worship opportunity came to St. Andrew’s, last week, and was very successful, and much appreciated. This outside, “Contemporary Style” Worship Service, is hosted once a month by different families who have the ability (LARGE – OUTSIDE – SAFE – WIDE OPEN SPACE) to host the“Church with No Walls”. These outside services are very informal, but full of the Holy Spirit! We use Contemporary Christian Music from some of our current modern Christian Artists; including Folk; Bluegrass; and Country Music. There will be a scripture reading, and Father Steve will deliver a message. Chris and Amy Babbie, were our hosts last week for the “Church with No Walls” service. These services begin around 11:00 a.m. Remember, this is an additional; once a month, worship service. “Church with No Walls” is NOT replacing our regular Sunday Morning Holy Eucharist at 9:00 a.m. However, Father Steve is OK with those who on the Sundays we do “Church with No Walls” elect not come to the 9:00 a.m. service at the Church, but instead come to the outside service at 11:00 a.m. We are looking at doing this additional service up through November. Sheila & Kent will host the next “Church With No Walls” on Sunday, August, 23rd.; Elizabeth will host at her venue; Millers Farmstead, in September. For our October date for “Church With No Walls” we are looking at a Saturday early evening date & time to be followed up with a Bon Fire at Chris & Amy’s house. Dates for September; October, and November, will be forthcoming in next week’s announcements. Please bring folding chairs. Remember, next “Church With No Walls” outside service is Sunday, August, 23rd.; around 11:00 a.m., hosted by Kent & Sheila, at their residence, on Castle Hill Road.
