Lent Begins this Week: Lent begins this Wednesday. The 2020 Lenten schedules, including the Friday Meatless meals & Bible Study Schedule are posted in Perry Hall. First Friday Lenten Meatless Meal & Bible Study begins this Friday, February 28th. at 11:30 a.m.

Ash Wednesday Service this Week February 26th – 6:00 p.m.:  One service: Wednesday, February, 26th. at 6:00 p.m.

March 2020 Calendar Posted in Perry Hall: The March 2020 Calendar is posted in Perry Hall on the bulletin board near the restrooms. Limited hard copies are available in the Narthex. Make it easier on yourself by taking a snap shots of the calendars with your cell phones. 

Annual Meeting in Perry Hall: Annual Meeting in Perry Hall immediately following 9:00 a.m. service this morning. This meeting will be very short! Father Steve’s yearly report is included with the printed weekly announcements in the pews. Fellowship time following the 9:00 a.m. service will be as usual this morning.

Friday Livestreaming Program “Friday Fish Eaters”: On Fridays during Lent, Father Steve will Livestream on Facebook a weekly 1/2 hour program, “Friday Fish Eaters”. The format for this weekly program will involve the Gospel Reading that we will hear for the following Sunday, and a short Homily on this Gospel. This weekly program will precede the Friday Meatless Meal, and Bible Study. On Friday, March 20th, Father Steve will not be here for the Meatless Meal, and Bible Study, HOWEVER, he will still Livestream the Weekly “Friday Fish Eaters” program from Pawley’s Island, S.C.

Confirmation Classes of 2020 begin Next Sunday: We have students committed to the Confirmation Class of 2020. There is still time for more to sign up. Classes will begin the First Sunday in Lent, on March 1st. The outline & schedule for Confirmation Classes are available for new students, and posted on the bulletin board in Perry Hall. For our students who are not able to attend every class, Father Steve is recording classes, and they will be posted on the St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Clear Spring, Youtube Channel.

Women of St. Andrew’s Pretzel/Sandwich Sale: Pick up pretzels/sandwiches at Miller’s Farmstead at 6:00 p.m. this Tuesday, February 25th. Please allow the orders to be completely sorted before leaving with your orders.

Candy Egg Making 2020 Underway: Look at the Church Calendar Posted in Perry Hall for the dates.

Douglas Black gathering today 2-5 p.m. Friends, and family are invited to gather at the Clear Spring American Legion today for a “Celebration of Life” for the late Dougas Black. The gathering will be in the upper ballroom, 2-5 p.m. and will include a pig roast. Father Steve will offer a Scripture Reading, and say a few words at the beginning of the event.

St. Andrew’s at Martha’s House – Hancock: Martha’s House on Main Street in Hancock, is one of the outreach programs for children and families in Hancock. Recently, they put a really neat “Movie Theater” in the lower level. Various Church groups are asked to supervise movie nights, and days, at the theater. The movies are family/kid friendly. A meal is included before the movie, and the theater has a popcorn machine. Volunteers from St. Andrew’s will volunteer on Sunday, March 15th. A meal will precede the movie, and the movie “Second Hand Lions”, will be shown in the theater. Everything is provided, all we need to do is show up; cook the meal; prepare the popcorn; supervise the attendees, and clean up. Volunteers are asked to start arriving at 12 noon on March 15th. to get the meal ready – We will be serving spaghetti & salad. (Again – All supplies for the meal will be there.)

Daylight Saving Time Begins in Two Weeks – March 8th: Do not forget to set your clocks ahead on Sunday, March 8th. It can be embarrassing if you’re walking into the Church during the Dismissal!

Recently Departed:Nancy Bishop (Parishioner of St. Thomas’ Hancock, and close friend of parishioner Renee’ Rivera). Bruce Buhrman (Father Steve Administered Last Rites to Bruce, Tuesday February 18th. at 8:00 a.m., at Doey’s House in Hagerstown. Bruce passed at 11:00 a.m. Father Steve will Officiate Service on Tuesday February 25th. at Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown.)
