Sunday August 19th. Special Guest Speakers at Adult Education: On Sunday August 19th, at 10:30 am., Father Steve has invited two guest speakers from the Hagerstown Church of the Nazarene, to speak at the Adult Education class. These two speakers will tell us about their recent mission trip to Honduras. Kerry and her daughter, Lauren, are friends of Steve and Melanie.
Holly Place Monthly Worship this Saturday – August 4th: Monthly Worship Service for the residents of Holly Place, this Saturday at 10:00 a.m. All are invited to attend and assist with the service.
Monthly Motorcycle Mass this Saturday – August 4th: Our next Motorcycle Mass will be next Saturday, August 4th., 6:00 p.m. The location for this Mass will be in the backyard of Kathi Rose’s residence, 731 Naples Drive, Hagerstown, Maryland. Food & Fellowship at Kathi’s residence will follow the Mass. There will be a group ride preceding the Motorcycle Mass on Saturday. For those choosing to go on the group ride, please meet Father Steve behind Williamsport Harley Davidson, Governor Lane, Williamsport, at 4:30 p.m.
3 Month Sabbatical – 2019 (update): Father Steve will be on a three month Sabbatical, beginning early May 2019. During the Sabbatical, there will only be one Sunday service, and no Wednesday Evening Services. There will be various supply clergy scheduled to handle the weekly Sunday services, and pastoral care during Father Steve’s absence. Father Steve has been furnished names from the Diocesan Office of potential supply Priests who may be able to cover some of the Sundays and Celebrate the Eucharist. Deacon John will also be available to assist some Sundays doing the Holy Eucharist from the Reserved Sacrament. During Father Steve’s Sabbatical our regular schedules will be scaled back.
Annual Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Department Carnival: The Annual Carnival is this week at the carnival grounds, S. Martin Street, Clear Spring. Again, St. Andrew’s has been asked to provide volunteers to work the Bingo pavilion. Volunteers are needed for Friday evening, August 3rd. 6-10 p.m. Please see Courtney. There is a volunteered sheet being circulated.
Special Prayers for Emma Noel Jones: Because of complications, the mother of Emma Noel Jones, was put into premature labor with her daughter, who was born at 26 weeks, 10 weeks short of the normal procedure for a child to be born. The birth occurred on Wednesday, July 18th. Parents of Emma are Kayla Kinsey, and Aaron Jones, the grandson of Dicky & Kathy Repp. The induced labor was at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore.
The Most Reverend Michael Curry: The following information is being shared since it has already been reported in the National printed and online news services. The Most Reverend Michael Curry, the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, has been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and will be having surgery this Tuesday, July 31st. The prognosis looks very good, and he feels positive according to the press release. We have added Michael to our printed prayers. This past Wednesday Evening, for the Feast Day of St. James, during the Mass, Father Steve’s intentions for the Mass were for Bishop Michael.
Tickets to see Country Music Artist Chris Janson: Parishioner Jolene Morris is donating 2 Concert Tickets to St. Andrew’s as a raffle fundraiser for our handicap project. The tickets are for Country Music Artist/Song Writer, Chris Janson, who will be performing at the Maryland State Fair in Timonium on Sunday, September 2, 2018; 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. Raffle sales will begin today. Winning raffle ticket will be drawn in late August during the Sunday morning, 9:00 a.m. Eucharist.
